Hand Blender
A hand blender is a kitchen appliance to blend ingredients, puree food, or mix liquids in the container in which they are being prepared. Hand blenders are most appropriately called immersion blenders, but are also known as stick blenders, bermixers, "the boat motor" and our favorite - "the Thunderstick"! Unlike traditional food processors, hand blenders do not require food to be placed in a special container for processing and they do not chop the food as it is blended like hand mixers.
Most home hand mixers have a shaft of ten to twelve inches, but professional models are typically longer, with shafts up to twenty-four inches. Given the proliferation of cooking shows on TV, hand mixers are now affordable and widely available to the home user.
